Silky Bubbles Shampoo
Naturally derived Sodium Coco Sulfate and DLS Mild give this shampoo excellent foam characteristics with gentle cleansing. Polyquaternium 7 provides light conditioning. Silk Amino Acids and Botanical Complex HC smooth and protect the hair cuticle. Liquid Crothix provides easy thickening as well as conditioning. This elegant formula is one of The Herbarie favorites.

In Part A
- Heat water to boiling point using a stainless steel pot or other non-reactive, heat-safe vessel.
- Remove from heat, add Sodium Coco Sulfate, stir and cover until completely melted/dissolved. It's very important that all the solids are completely dissolved/melted.
- When Sodium Coco Sulfate has dissolved/melted, adjust pH to 5.5 with citric acid.
- Add DLS Mild to dissolved Sodium Coco Sulfate. Stir gently until incorporated.
In Part B
- Combine Plantasol CCG, Essential or Fragrance Oils, Optiphen ND in a small dish such as our porcelain dishes - set aside.
- When the Part A mixture has cooled to 120F or less, add the combined mixture of Plantasol CCG, EO, Optiphen ND to surfactants with gentle stirring. Add the remainder of the ingredients in Part B (except for Crothix Liquid) to the formula. Add Crothix Liquid last to thicken – a bit more or less can be used to adjust desired thickness.
* Recheck finished formula. The pH will be approx. 7.0. Adjust to 5.0-5.5 using citric acid.
Tips for shampoo/body wash
- Melt/dissolve ALL solids.
- Pay attention to pH of finished product and make sure it is around 5.5.
- pH can effect viscosity.
- Fragrance oils WILL effect the formulation.
- Essential oils that seem to be most compatible with shampoo/body wash: geranium, peppermint, rose, sandalwood, rosemary, clary sage, myrtle, lavender, lemongrass.
- Solubilizers such as AquaEm, Cromollient SCE, and Plantasol CCG will help to lessen the negative impact of fragrance oils and essential oils on surfactant based systems.
- Use more or less Liquid Crothix as needed for thickening.
